Oticon Opn Hearing Aids
Introducing the Oticon Opn Hearing Aid
From Oticon, the company which brought the groundbreaking BrainHearing technology, there is a new hearing aid: the Opn. Building upon the successes of BrainHearing technology, Opn makes listening easier and effortless by supporting how the brain processes sound. Unlike current hearing aids which block out sounds and create artificial listening experiences, Opn gives the brain a full spectrum of rich sound to give Opn wearers a more dynamic sound experience. Rather than limiting sound, Opn gives wearers accessibility to the world around them.

Opn is powered by Velox, an ultra-fast and precise platform. This tiny chip manages multiple sound sources, processing sound 50 times faster than in previous processing platforms. With this incredible sound processing, wearers experience 20% reduction in listening effort in noisy environments, 20% more capacity to remember in challenging noise situations, and 30% better speech understanding and clarity in noise, compared to previous models of Oticon hearing aids. With this efficient sound processing platform, wearers experience a full soundscape that allows the brain to choose what to focus on – which brings significant cognitive benefits.
OpenSound Navigator Environmental Analyzer
One of the key features of Opn is the OpenSound Navigator Environmental Analyzer. This feature scans the full 360 degree sound environment 100 times per second to analyze and balance each sound individually. The result is a comprehensive picture of the sounds in any environment, which assists wearers in localization and gives them free reign over what to focus on, and when to switch attention.
TwinLink: Wireless Connectivity
TwinLink is a new communication system from Oticon: two wireless systems in one hearing aid. Using near-field magnetic communication (NFMI) for binaural ear-to-ear communication, Opn hearing aids share, mix, and balance sound data from each hearing aid into one cohesive listening experience. NFMI technology is energy efficient and preserves battery power, all the while maintaining a high quality sound experience. TwinLink also consists of Bluetooth technology for wireless streaming from smartphones or other personal electronic devices, delivering sound directly from the device to your Opn hearing aids. Opn hearing aids are also easily controlled via Bluetooth on smartphones/prodices through a downloadable app.
Connecting to the Internet
Opn is the world’s first hearing aid that connects directly to the Internet. Using If This then That (IFTTT.com), Opn hearing aids have the ability to connect to a range of daily devices that make life easier. For example, home security systems, doorbells, thermostats, and baby monitors are all available to connect to Opn hearing aids. Additionally, Opn has the ability to connect to systems such as kitchen appliances, hearing systems in the car, and gaming devices. Whether it is an email notification or the doorbell, you’ll be the right in the loop with the sounds of your daily life.
Other Features & Styles of the Oticon Opn
Aside from these brand-new features with Opn, Oticon has also empowered these new hearing aids with reliable features to enhance listening. The YouMatic feature allows wearers to personalize their listening experience, while SoftSpeech Booster and SpeechGuard LX ensures the best in speech recognition, especially against challenging background noise. Oticon Opn hearing aids will be available in the mini receiver-in-the-ear (miniRITE) style.
